Me And My Dirt

Welcome to my blog my name is Emmer Jean Davis and I know everything there is to know about gardening. For more than 50 years in I've gardened in every soil known to man. If it has a seed I can grow it! Right now I'm getting ready to grow my ultimate garden and I would for all of you to share in the experience with me first hand. Learn the joy and accomplishment of planting seeds that culminate  into plants that with a little TLC yields nice natural fruits and vegetables. All done by your own hand. It truly is an accomplishment. Benefit as I share my years of knowledge right here on my my blogsite covering everything related to growing.

Unfortunately foods today aren't nearly as healthy as they were maybe only 50 years ago. With so many chemicals and preservatives being added by corporate farming they lose a lot if not all of their natural nutrients, vitamins and minerals. Which is why growing your own if possible is an excellent alternative. Gardening fortunately is not an expensive hobby and does not take a lot of maintenance or product support all that is needed for the most part dirt, water and sunshine. You could probably get away with starting a basic garden free with some seeds, space and a little devotion. Just understand its a lot easier than many people think to grow A nice garden containing a nice chemical-free variety of veggies.
Right now I'm culminating my compost heap letting it formulate into into a nice heap of steaming fertilizer. I only add uncooked foods to my compost heap. Things such as raw vegetable clippings onions, carrots, bell peppers, potatoe peels all make great additions. One of my favorites to add are eggshells. I crunch them up and sprinkle them over the top of my compost heap. They add nutrients to the soil fast and in sufficient amounts also. I also use both Tea and Coffee grinds a thin layer sprinkled over the top serve to acidify the soil. Keeps PH of the soil on the acidic side. This is great for acidic-loving plants such as Blueberries, Azaleas and Gardenias.

My heap is coming along nicely as I have a little of everything all decomposing nicely to serve as the basis of my garden. When its ready I'll get started and together we can grow ourselves nice juicy veggies!

Welcome aboard!    Emmer Jean Gardner!
